IN THE NEWS Ivy Hosts Distinguished Speaker Series for Working Mothers E arlier this year, Ivy Education Group hosted our Distinguished Speaker Series entitled “How to Balance Work, Family and Personal Life-A conversation with working mothers”. The event was held at wework, Pacific Century Place, and provided a wonderful and honest conversation from a group of dynamic and talented working moms about challenges at work, as well as their keen insights about balance, coping mechanisms, and education. Dozens of people attended the event, while it was also broadcast live to over 30,000 listeners via the online app Babytree. The event was moderated by Tim Lan, Daystar Academy’s Chinese Principal, and featured special panelists, Zhenfund partner and CEO Anna Fang, founder of famous early education brand LittleOasis Jennifer Ma, Ivy Academy Sanlitun Campus Director Victoria Li, and Dr. Bojun Hu, a psychologist from Beijing United Family Hospital. The panelists shared their key takeaways for all working moms. To be clear, this is not limited to working Ivy Schools Spring/Summer Edition 2019 moms in the “traditional” sense. If you are a full-time mom, that in itself is “work” as well, because you are dedicating your time and effort on your child/children; not yourself. This is critically important. But the key takeaways were: • Clarify your values and set goals and expectations. Drop activities that sap your time or energy • Time management and prioritization • Take care of yourself • Make sure what you do fulfills you in some way • Know there is no “perfect” balance. Letting go. Ivy’s Distinguished Speaker Series is designed provide learning opportunities for parents, both when it comes to raising their children, as well as supporting their needs. We also at times provide some wonderful performances for the benefit of the community. Since its debut in 2011, Chinese and international experts have been invited to provide professional advice and practical guidance to parents attending the lectures, so that parents can stay informed and have the right tools to foster a brighter future, for their children.
