MESSAGE The Singapore Tamil Youth Conference 2014 (STYC 2014) is a meaningful initiative by the National University of Singapore’s Tamil Language Society (NUS TLS) to promote the use of Tamil, and to our youth to discuss how they want to see the Indian community and Singapore develop in the coming years. The Society’s activities have grown very well over the years, with milestone events such as the firstever World Tamil University Youth Conference 2012 and Sangae Muzhangu 2013. The new committee will I am sure build on this foundation and reach new heights with STYC 2014. Youth are the next generation of Tamil language proponents. By encouraging tertiary students to write conference papers, STYC 2014 has helped to broaden the students’ learning as well as inspire them to reflect on the potential of the Tamil language. These papers will surely spark greater discussion when presented before a larger student audience. I commend the efforts of the organising committee and wish all participants a successful STYC 2014.
