unique. As such, it is my wish that many Chinese should
know about the beauty of India. There are many people
in China who are interested to know about India. There
are not many who know about India and Tamil language
in detail. Given the opportunity, we would work together with India’s Tourism Board to introduce classical Tamil language to many more Chinese.
Apart from being a
classical language,
Tamil language has
been used since time
immemorial. It is
important to create
the habit of using this
beautiful language in
our daily lives
You have published a Chinese-Tamil dictionary that
contains more than 27 000 words. Following that, you
are now working on publishing Tamil-Chinese dictionary. What is the purpose of publishing these dictionaries?
With the Chinese-Tamil dictionary, the Chinese, especially students can easily learn Tamil language. I’ve
planned to publish a Tamil-Chinese dictionary in the
future. By using this dictionary, Tamils would be able to
learn Chinese easily.
How do you think today’s youth can use Tamil in this
contemporary world?
Apart from being a classical language, Tamil language
has been used since time immemorial. It is important to
create the habit of using this beautiful language in our
daily lives. As such, the Tamil section in the CRI has
provided many media services. Through websites in Tamil, people are aware of a myriad of news and thus are
updated with current affairs. Furthermore, the Tamil
section in CRI has extended its services to have smart
phone compatibility, which could be used on iOS and
Android platforms.
Do you believe that Tamil could be fostered through
radio and social media?
Of cou rse! With the growth of Information Technology we are exposed to more means of Tamil through the
various ‘virtual’ aspects. Not only are we getting more
exposed, we are also getting ourselves more engaged
with these platforms. Examples of these would include
websites, e-Magazines, television programmes, APP and
mobile phone. Through these means, I believe that cultural Tamil would continue to grow.
What are your opinions about Tamil Language in Singapore and Singaporean Tamils?
I do not have very frequent contact sessions with my Tamil speaking friends here in Singapore. However, there
has been an increase in the number of followers from
Singapore for my webpage. They show great interest in
the tourist attractions in China.
A few words about Singapore Tamil Youth Conference
2014?
Singapore Tamil Youth Conference 2014 encourages
youth to be more passionate about the usage of Tamil
language. This conference has a role to play in encouraging the growth of Tamil language in Singapore. As such,
I wish that this conference would be a successful event.
