impulse to consolidate the efforts of all parties involved in the early resolution of the conflict in
Afghanistan, as evidenced by the positive trends around the Afghan peace process.
With regard to the security issues and stability in Central Asia, it is impossible to gloss
over such a vital issue for all countries of the region as the sustainable use of shared water
resources. In this regard, Uzbekistan is in favor of the early adoption of draft conventions by
the States of the region on the use of the water resources of the Amudarya and Syrdarya rivers,

pragmatic and constructive policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the visit of the President of
the Republic of Tajikistan in March, in Tashkent, the governments reached an agreement on
the construction of two hydropower plants on the Zarafshan river with a capacity of 320 mW. It
was an important step in regional cooperation on the use of Trans boundary water resources.

Uzbekistan to overcome the consequences of the environmental crisis in the Aral Sea region,
announced in August, at the meeting of the Council of heads of state and the founders of the
international Fund for saving the Aral Sea. In order to mitigate the consequences of the Aral
