INTERVIEW
Creative People, Unite!
Elena Rudakova
Sunrise chief editor,
Blagoveschensk (Russia)
Viktoriya Ulko
Poetess,
Blagoveschensk (Russia)
Our native Blagoveschensk is a small
town, however, the public and creative life is in
full swing here. The City Poets' Club is a good
example. People of different ages and
professions regularly hold poetry meetings
within the union to share their work in a friendly
atmosphere and just have good time
together. I joined them this summer after I
once visited an event held on a motor vessel
and supported by Amur Regional Scientific
Library. I was warmly welcome at once and for
me the participants have become summer
people forever: they were so open-hearted,
kind and lively.
Viktoriya Ulko was among the first of
those I met. I remember that day she
impressed me greatly with her beautiful eyes
and the expressive and moving manner she
was reciting a poem about a sunny bug. Later I
learned that it was she who had founded the
club and Yaroslav Lukoyanov, quite a famous
local poet, had then started helping her with
it. He engaged some new social and media
partners and a permanent photographer…
Once, at a weekend, we three decided
to have a meeting in Skandi to talk in Danish
setting about ways of promoting our creative
activity and just about how it felt to be a poet
those days.

Yaroslav Lukoyanov
Poet, Geography teacher
BSPU, Blagoveschensk (Russia)
Ya r o s l a v, yo u h a ve b e e n w r i t i n g
poetry for a long time and you must have vast
experience, so how often do you have your
recitals?
Yaroslav: You know that I am studying
a t B l a g ove s c h e n s k S t a t e Pe d a g o g i c a l
University to become a geography teacher
and that’s where I held charity events in the
assembly hall. I recited poems. There was full
audience. Of course, organization takes quite
a lot of time but it is well worth it.
Viktoriya: Events in a big hall always
bring it to a new level. I often think that it would
be helpful for us, too. We are going to have an
anniversary soon. On the 3rd of January our
club will be one year old.
The 3 rd of January? And how did it all
start?
Viktoriya: Yes, it officially started on
the 3rd of January in gastrobar Ivolga. By that
time we had already stopped working with
Maks Radman and I was trying to find out how
unions like ours were living in other cities. While
doing it, I had an idea to hold a poetry festival
and I started looking for people via social
networks. Moreover, I joined a blogger school
where I was taught to promote my blog. Step
by step, a group of people gathered who were
moving in the same direction with me. As a
result, we appeared in an amount of 40 people
at the festival!
