HISTORY On the Banks of the Neva Dvortsovyi Bridge but it managed to pass the endurance test. The leaves of the Peter the Great's bridge rise in just 30 seconds. There is a legend that one of its million rivets is made of gold but it is painted in the same color as the others so that it is impossible to distinguish. Epochs change but there are some romantics enchanted by white nights still looking for the gold rivet for luck… Water and the sky are a single entity in Saint Petersburg. The city's formula is an alloy of the silver of the Neva's waters and that of the northern skies with fused in slightly trembling golden thread of embankment facades sometimes interrupted by splashes of spires or domes piercing the sky. White nights and bridges are said to connect the color of all the past and future dates. The sphinxes brought from ancient Thebes in Egypt are lying majestically on the granite quay. They must shiver with cold in the Baltic draught at nights, however, they merge into the city of mists spiritually. The northern sky, as profound and clear as someone's gaze, seems to show through the array of palaces and bridges. The city has become a real metric for Italian and French architects but whatever standards were utilized for construction in P e t e r s b u r g , b e i t R o m e , Ve n i c e o r Fontainebleau, the creation turned out to be flawlessly Russian. Angels over the city stay awake at white nights. Every once in a while, they cast a glance to see the beautiful Neva's mood today. The golden ring of winged bridges affianced it with St. Petersburg forever and the unceasing sough of Neva's waves sounds as the water note ring for it. …Being in St. Petersburg we also visited Peterhof, Nevsky Prospect, Hermitage, cathedrals, parks and some other famous sights. I liked the Summer Garden. It is a very old park. Many trees, bushes and flowers grow there. Statues and a well-known cast iron grille decorate the place. Moreover, there is a bronze monument to the Russian writer Ivan Krylov (by sculptor Klodt) who is loved and cited by every Russian child. We took a lot of beautiful pictures and bought some souvenirs. No doubt, I dream to come back to this wonderful city! Speaking about August, I should say it was a relaxing part of my vacation. I walked with my friends every day, rode a bike and watched sunsets. It was very cool because I like spending time outside enjoying nature. Besides, I drew pictures, watched interesting films and all. To sum it up, this summer was amazing and enjoyable! I would like to repeat it next year. November 2018 №1 SUNRISE 51
