TRAVELING Woke up in London Yesterday… Maria Brytner Tarnowskie Góry (Poland) Traveling has so many faces - for some people it's a way of life, for others - some kind of escape. There are also people who do it for fun or to discover undiscovered. What does traveling mean to you? I asked the same question to myself and I would say that for me it's a bit of everything. I`ve been to Germany, UK, Poland, Austria, Slovakia and Czech Republic – not many, but still. In this article I want to focus on the UK or to be exact – its capital city – London. Why? Well, this city has something magical in it, something that makes you want to come back again and again. And it was also the first country I visited because of the certain band… London is one of the leading global cities. Its population is approximately 9 million people and more than 300 languages are spoken in the region. The most characteristic feature for London is red double decker buses, the Royal family, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, the River Thames, London Eye, the London Underground and many many more including The Beatles and the weather. But speaking about the weather… I would say that the weather isn't that bad like many people think. At least when I was there, it was the end of November and it felt like the end of summer. There are 11 Tube lines and each of them has a different color on the map. The same color have handrails inside the Tube. I was there for the first time and for me it was really funny to discover everything all by myself. It's also a great way to have a short conversation with Londoners. They are really nice and even though they are always in a hurry, they have time to help you and show the right direction. Also you can meet there your countryman, as London is a mix of nationalities. With London Underground I got to the most famous tourist attraction in London. My first goal was Big Ben. I got to see this beautiful building at night and in the daylight, with rainbow in the background. It's more impressive than you think. When you get there, you can reach other popular places as well – London Eye by the River Thames, which is to the left from Big Ben. Unfortunately it was closed when I was there, so I couldn't take a ride, but if I could, I would do that, even though tickets are really expensive - 28£, but it's worth the price for sure, as you can see a panorama of London. If you take a walk to the right of Big Ben, you will reach Buckingham Palace, the SUNRISE 18
