5. Put the house in a tree at Zasqua, and put the food in the bird feeder, each with the same weight. 6. Each day, we will measure the weight of both types of food that we’ve selected, and record the answer in the chart. 7. When we finish recording, we will compare and contrast the results of both types of food, respond our question, see if our hypothesis was correct, and we will present the results to the class. Data Analysis and Conclusions: In science class, we tested what birds prefer eating between corn and banana on a experiment. We had thought that Zasqua birds would eat more corn than banana because the banana would rot very quickly. That was our hypothesis, and we saw that our experiment supported it. The claim is that Zasqua birds prefer corn more than banana. The evidence to support this claim is that the birds ate on average 20 gr. of corn, and 15 gr. of banana. When you see this results, you see that more birds ate corn than banana. On the first two days of recording, both types of food had decreased the same amount, but in the third day, the corn had decreased a little more. The data explains the amount of food birds had eaten in grams (gr.). We think the results explain that Zasqua birds like corn better than banana. The factors that caused the experiment to have this result we think are because the bird feeder was at the bottom of a big tree in Zasqua. Also, in Zasqua there are some types of birds that have some preferences, so if we put the bird feeder in Cartagena, the results would have changed. Additionally, we think that it was because the type of bird feeder, a feeder with no walls and a roof. Finally, we think the banana decomposed quicker than the corn, and that affected birds liking it. We could have done a better bird feeder, that would be more stable. Also, we should have thought on the first time we tried the experiment to bring normal corn, because when we went to measure the other day, both corn and banana were rotten; so we needed to repeat it. This results help me to find out the preferences of Bogota’s birds, and we could use this knowledge for serving a certain type of food on my house bird feeder. If we needed to do another experiment, we would ask this question: What de birds prefer, bread or seeds? Zasqua Jounal 2017 / 7
