experiments Do birds in Zasqua prefer to eat corn or banana? By Santiago Pailhé, Luna Granados, Cristina Mestre We have studied about birds throughout the bimester, in Science class. We are very interested in this project because we really like birds, they’re very beautiful and interesting. For example, they have a lot of extraordinary characteristics and adaptations, like their muscular and circulatory system. We want to know the birds’ eating preferences. This project is important to us because we are the future of Colombia, so we need to learn about our birds to preserve them, and by knowing their species and type of food we can preserve them. We are very happy to learn about what birds eat, because we had that question during the bimester, especially when we were studying how the beak tells the type of food the bird eats. We know that on Zasqua birds eat corn and banana, and we want to see which the birds prefer between those two. Question: Do birds in Zasqua prefer to eat corn or banana? Hypothesis: For this experiment was if we put corn and banana in the same bird feeder in Zasqua, then birds will eat more corn than banana because the banana will ripen very fast and less Zasqua birds will like it. Experiment Design and Procedure 1. Plan the materials we will need to build the bird feeder, 2. Plan how we will do it in a paper. 3. Build the bird feeder with the previous plantation of the structure and materials we needed. The bird feeder had a base, then four stick columns attached to each other by other two sticks, and a roof made of two pieces of wood attached together. The base and the roof were covered with Contact. At the borders, there were little pieces of wood, except on one border. 4. Create the chart in which we will record the data of our experiment. Writing the variable, the days or weeks you would collect the data, only the weight. Data Table Data Analysis and Conclusions 6 / Zasqua Jounal 2017 (which were wood, Contact, nails, and a hammer).
