Z - InSearch of the Sustainable Soul

These crafts are woven by artisans from the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest using natural resources from that region. The foundation for most of the crafts is the Chambira Palm. Sustainably harvested, this palm can be used in its natural state or dyed in a variety of colors. Seeds, nuts, feathers, bones, teeth, and more are also collected and used for these crafts.

Student travelers trade clothing that has been donated with the local women for their crafts. The crafts are then sold back in the states. 100% of the sales goes back to projects organized by EKOAMAZON and CONAPAC. They have teamed with the people along the river to create projects that will benefit the whole community. Recent projects include Sawyer water filtration systems for schools and remote homes and boat buses, a first for this region.
