STRATEGIC GOAL ONE By 2019 the YWCA is the leading organisation for young women in SA advocacy This year YWCA Adelaide has developed and supported a wide range of advocacy projects, building on our commitment to be the leading women’s advocacy organisation in South Australia. Here is just a snapshot of what we have been involved in: 7  Completed the new YWCA Adelaide Policy Platform  Launched YWCA Adelaide’s Women’s Safety Mural, created by Adelaide artist Ella Simpson, with support from the City of Adelaide Council and Adelaide Fringe Street Art Explosion. This mural, found in James Place in the city, has a message about women’s safety and respect, encouraging safer public spaces through positive bystander intervention.  Coordinated a DV forum with the Addressing Violence Alliance on Interpersonal Violence and LGBTIQ Communities  Provided a submission to the state parliament Inquiry in support of the decriminalisation of sex work (including presenting evidence to the Parliamentary Select Committee). This has been a strong focus for YWCA Adelaide over the past year, advocating our position that decriminalisation is the model recommended by health and human rights experts that best safeguards the health, safety and human rights of sex workers, the majority of whom are women  Provided a submission to the federal government in support of paid parental leave  Continued our Feminist Insider segment on Radio Adelaide every fortnight  Spoke to Hack on triple j about sexual harassment and Positive Bystander Intervention  Presented at the AWAVA/Our Watch national violence prevention conference on YWCA’s respectful relationships education  Expanded delivery of Bystander Intervention Workshops and Rise Above the Pack campaign, culminating in receiving an Australian Crime and Violence Prevention Award for our Rise Above the Pack campaign (presented at Parliament House, Canberra)  YWCA Adelaide have appeared in mainstream media on average every 11 days
