SHE LEADS PROGRAM 2016/2017 saw 22 women graduate from the SHE Leads Program. The value of the program is the diversity of the participants and mentors who come from a wide range of employment areas to learn and share their leadership journey and aspirations. Guest presenters, Kelly Graham-Sutton, Sharon Ferrier, Liz Forsyth and Amy Nazar supported the SHE Leads Program facilitator Nicole Swaine, as the participants explored their leadership styles, communicating, working in teams and establishing a strategic approach to their personal life and career. Here is what one 2017 SHE Leads Program participant says: “Feelings can be hard. I have them basically non-stop — even (read: especially) at work. SHE Leads helped me leverage my passion, anger, anxiety, excitement in a meaningful and productive way. We worked hard to cultivate traditional leadership qualities too, like our capacities to actively listen, ask questions, give and receive feedback, and read our peers' emotions. Those learnings were equally valuable, even complementary to our personal embrace of vulnerability. Our facilitator Nicole Swaine fostered an inclusive, supportive learning space, and I think about her lessons every day. I feel I will for many years to come. Endless gratitude to my fellow SHE Leaders and YWCA Adelaide for having me.” Aimee Knight, YWCA Member SHE Leads Scholarship recipient 10
