ENCORE YWCA Adelaide’s longest running program, Encore, continued to provide high quality pool and floor based exercise programs to women during the 2015/16 year who have experience breast cancer at any time in their lives. EMBED SLIDESHOW HERE Three programs were delivered at Flinders Medical Centre and two programs were delivered at Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre over the past 12 months. 56 women participated in these programs with a number of women returning to complete a second program to gain further benefit. At the end of 2015 we farewelled long time program facilitator Ruth Morrison. Ruth delivered Encore at Flinders Medical Centre for over 10 years and was a much loved member of the Encore team. We wish Ruth all the very best for the next chapter of her life. Lesley deWet-Jones has come on board as our new Flinders program facilitator and she has seen great success in her programs to date. EVERY GIRL Every Girl is a program that is delivered around the country by YWCA, and provides girls with the opportunity to develop an understanding of human rights, as well as their own leadership identity, in order to achieve social transformation in a way that is relevant to their lives, whether this is with their family at home, their peers at school or within their broader community. The program aims to create a respectful, age appropriate and culturally safe environment where girls can explore and articulate their individual strengths and values, and develop their ability to influence change in their communities and build resilience. YWCA Adelaide delivered the Every Girl program to students at Ocean View College in Term 1 2016 and John Pirie Secondary School in Term 2 2016. 14
