ADVOCACY
This year we adopted a pre-election event model successfully delivered by
YWCA Australia in Perth and Canberra with our SHE Votes event. Held in the
lead up to the State Election, SHE Votes is an innovative engagement
model which challenges the traditional ‘panel speaks at audience’ forum.
SHE Votes borrows from the speed-dating model where parliamentary
candidates meet for up to 10 minutes with small groups of audience,
intimately engaging in a conversation, rotating around a venue until all
groups have been met. Five parliamentary candidates and representatives
from major and minor parties participated in SHE Votes.
