Advocacy for Change
Important in our work is actively striving for gender equity across all areas
and attention to the needs of women in policy and services. The year has
witnessed a State Election with which we engaged actively and
productively. Our State Election Platform outlined clearly our position and
aspirations on issues important to our membership and women more
broadly.
Effective advocacy requires clarity of agenda along with a collaborative
approach with other agencies who identify the same objectives to be
achieved. We gained good media coverage of the issues we raised
through this process, and facilitated direct and active discussion by
interested women including our members with parliamentary nominees at
our very successful SHE Votes event in February. Overall our media
coverage continued to increase on the previous year, with an average of
one media publication every five days. We continue to enjoy active
consultation by key stakeholders who can effect issues impacting on
women, and thank them for assisting us in maintaining such important
relationships.
