To Live and To Learn

Boruch Hashem Rosh Chodesh Shevat , 5711 Brooklyn , N . Y .
To Anash , students of Tomchei Temimim and those who are Mekushar or are related to my revered fatherin-law the saintly Rebbe , of blessed memory :
Hashem bless you all .
Greeting and blessing !
In reply to the many questions that have been asked about a detailed schedule for the Tenth of Shevat , the Yahrzeit of my revered father-in-law , the Rebbe , I would suggest the following :
1 . On the Shabbos before the Yahrzeit everybody should attempt to have an Aliyah to the Torah .
2 . If there are not enough Aliyos , the Torah should be read a few times in different rooms . However , do not add to the number of Aliyos at each reading .
3 . The Maftir should be the most respected person , as decided by the majority ; or by lots .
4 . Choose someone to lead the Davening on the day of the Yarhzeit . It is proper to divide the honor , choosing one person to Daven Maariv , a second to Daven Shacharis and a third - Mincha . In this way a bigger number of Anash will have the honor .
5 . Light a Yarhzeit candle that will burn throughout the twenty-four hours of the day . If possible , the candle should be of beeswax .
