Punk.

“Punk means different things for different people”

– John Robb

The Evolution of Punk.

By the late 70's, Punk had fractured into a number of different styles. Some more radical, politically-minded punks started the anarcho-punk movement of which Crass were the driving force behind. They had rejected the music industry that had made The Sex Pistols so big; Crass, The Poison Girls, Sub-humans and many others began to release their own music and promoted their own shows and the DIY philosophy became a big part of the Punk subculture.

It could be said that many of the roots of activism lie in punk culture - Pussy Riot faced 7 years’ imprisonment for 'Hooliganism'- Proving that punk is still the music of resistance.
