This counter-movement was a backlash against the gracefulness established by the late 60’s summer of love vibe- All of the flowers, flares, drapes, peace and love was tossed aside and in its place came tight jeans, leather jackets, sweat, blood, tears and anger.

The clothes were always a reflection of the music. They ripped up their jeans like they ripped up the 60’s. Teenage rebellion was the beating heart of punk culture.

Punk was a symptom of the dull mood at the time. Everything from the start, refused definition and caused conflict. U.S. punks and British punks didn’t agree, The Clash and The Sex Pistols didn’t agree, John Lydon didn’t agree with the rest of the Sex Pistols and The Sex Pistols didn't agree with anyone; some embraced politics, some chose to completely reject it.
