The rockers would use the word “sissies” to describe those who felt the need to take these recreational drugs. But because of their dirty and greasy exterior they weren’t often welcome in dance halls and pubs. The rocker look consisted of black boots, leather jackets (often decorated with spikes, patches and other décor), an open face helmet or no helmet at all and a white silk scarf (thanks to the Elvis influence) to protect them from the cold and other elements while on their bikes. There was always a lot of leather incorporated into the rockers look. The music was heavily influenced by 50’s rock ’n’ roll legends such as Elvis, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly and Little Richard.
