THE NOTTING HILL RACE RIOTS.

The Notting Hill Race riots were a series of riots which continued for five nights due to racial hatred from youth groups in Notting Hill. What is more shocking about the riots, aside from causing mass injuries and several instances of damage is the fact that it has now been uncovered that at the time, senior officers within the police force attempted to play down the racial aspects of the incidents. an article from the telegraph describes the events below:

"The disturbances were overwhelmingly triggered by 300-to 400-strong 'Keep Britain White' mobs, many of them Teddy boys armed with iron bars, butcher's knives and weighted leather belts"

The Racially motivated groups at the time also had horrific nicknames for their systematic hunting and violently assaulting the ethnic minorities of Notting Hill. It is sufficent to say that the language used by such groups was rather strong and disgusting. So I shall not go into great detail.
