The Bobby Soxers were one of the first major instances of a youth culture ‘fandom’ These ‘Bobby Soxers were Frank Sinatra fans who came out in their droves to each Sinatra concert during his early years when he was known simply by his nickname of ‘The Voice’.

The Bobby Soxers are important to the establishment of a Youth Culture as they were one of the particular groups that firstly: consisted of mostly Teenagers and had their own distinct style, fashion and music. They used their distinct fashion as something which distinguished them as teenagers which led to fashion magazines marketing the socks from between 4-40 to 4-25 and then just originally for children and teens.

"One young woman is known to have sat through 56 consecutive performances, which means about eight consecutive days. Some of the youngsters faint with hunger and fatigue after sitting six or eight hours without food, but still refuse to leave until they are bodily removed by the attendants"
