Chest hollow, warmth stolen,
mind compressed with neverending questions.
A piece of heart gone missing.
Time passes and temperature drops
as to numb the half-stitched wounds,
letting jumbled thoughts find peace.
Throat clears with a gust of wind,
tears freeze when facts are accepted.
Path vivid, though possible to walk.
The hurt a reminder, not an abuser.
Self-worth suspended, but far from cheapened.
Life moves on because no one is defeated.
Wind screeches as ice breaks
under the moonlit midnight sky
by the weight of footsteps on grass.
