After 59 by Harry Baker
Hydrogen falls off the wrong side of the bed.
Finds all his hair on the left side of his head.
He takes just over a minute to work out that it’s because of the way he slept.
He finds some clothes and gets dressed.
He can’t help but look in the mirror and be subtly impressed
How he looks so light and perfectly pale, with hair casually messed.
And as he glances out the window,
He gets blessed with the sight of Helium from across the street.
Now Helium was beautiful.
She was inert in almost every way,
What else can I say?
She’s never rude or crude
Always looking lavishing in something light
Probably because of her lack of mass.
She was one of a kind,
Never reacting with anything fine.
Hydrogen wanted to tell her that he knew her favorite place to watch the skies
But he was afraid his voice would rise; and fall short of breath.
He knew it wouldn’t work, he’d never get the girl.
Because although she lived across the street they came from two different worlds.
