Their daily routine was really quite
simple. The moment Sarah arose, so did
she; they became clockwork and tangled
within each other. As the morning crept
on and sun started to spill through the
windows, they laid together, and Sarah
turned on Tom and Jerry for her while
making breakfast for the two of them.
With a maternal hand she softly fed her,
and wiped the drool from her mouth
when she wasn’t swallowing properly.
She really hadn’t quite learned how to
eat in a clean manner yet, but Sarah
didn’t mind; she loved her with all her
heart and gave her whole world away.
The next step was a bath. Sarah
hummed and whistled tones she heard
the birds sing as she drew the warm water
and poured in bubbles to make it more
fun. She really hated baths, but Sarah
tried to liven it up with small touches of
consideration like warming the towel in

the dryer before wrapping her in it, and
pouring water gently over her head with
a cup instead of using the faucet.
After lifting her from the tub, Sarah
gently placed a fresh diaper on her, and
led her downstairs. She sat and stared
at Sarah while Sarah worked on the
computer, her eyes big and wide with
marvel.
“Oh, sweetie, your head is falling!”
Sarah said, a little too loudly. She started
to scream, and Sarah felt instant guilt,
and cradled her gently until she calmed
down. Sarah placed a pillow behind her
neck, and her head didn’t droop anymore.
Sarah’s fingers flew across her keys and
her eyes followed every move.
