massive difference in our brilliant hospitals – read on to find out more! Helping patients manage their pain 88 year-old Paula Thanks to your generous support, an innovative online pain management programme is helping patients with chronic pain get back to their daily activities. At the INPUT Pain Management Centre at St Thomas’ Hospital, we use a form of psychological treatment called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This treatment helps people open up to the physical sensations of pain, emotions related to pain (such as fear of injuring oneself), and pain-related thoughts (for example, that pain reduction is needed to increase activity), rather than struggling to control these experiences. The programme also helps people to focus more fully on the present moment, and to connect with what they care about in life. • only contact you according to your preferences.
