Apart from your maiden victory what’s been the highlight of your season? What are the other goals for 2016… More Tour wins, a target OWGR positon or even a Major? “It’s hard to pick one really. Crans was great and it was brilliant to finish so well in Dubai to top the season off. It’s been a great year with so many brilliant memories.” “I don’t really set targets like that. Moving into the top 50 is a big thing for me and I just want to continue climbing the world rankings if I can.” The Ryder Cup will come round quickly in 2016, are you focussing on a place in the squad as a main aim for next year? “It would be a dream to play in the Ryder Cup but I know I need to play well to get there and so that’s what I’m really focusing on. I just want to keep progressing and if I make the team, I’d be delighted.” Having played in the walker cup in recent years what do you think you could bring to the European Team? “I loved the Walker Cup and I really like Match Play. Paul Lawrie’s tournament was great fun and it would be great if we got the chance to play it a bit more often. If I made the team I’d like to think I could contribute.” 46 | YOURCADDY MAG - ISSUE 06 The likes of Spieth & McIlroy are only a few years older than you, do you feel that over the course of the next few seasons you will be challenging them for the world’s top spot? I’ve got plenty that I can improve on and that excites me.” Keith Pelley recently stated that the European Tour needs to change and improve its prize money in order to keep up with the US. Will you continue to focus your efforts in Europe or is golf in the States on the immediate horizon? “Having been to college over there for a while, I love the United States and I really enjoy being over there. That’s a long-term target but I think I’ll be concentrating on Europe for some time yet. With the WGCs and majors, you’re kind of playing a split schedule anyway.” Already in your first season you have competed in over 31 events, that’s a lot of playing partners. You’re still very young but you already have a vast amount experience in the world of golf, if you could give one piece of advice young upcoming golfers what would it be? “Remember to enjoy yourself. Work hard and see where it takes you.”
