YOUR COURSE | YOUR TRAVEL It’s easy to see why the course receives so many plaudits when you stand on the 1st tee. The par 5 winds its way down to a ravine which sits around 100 yards short of the green. Standing on the fairway after your first tee shot, its already decision time, the long hitters can make the green in two but most will lay up and take in the views of the mountainous back drop before they attack the green which is tucked away against the pines trees on your left. The first hole sets the tone for the rest of the round, a challenging course which needs to be thought about, staying on the fairway is key around Alcanada, venture in to the spongey sticky rough and you’ll have a tough time sticking to your handicap. The 7th hole is an exceptional one, an elevated tee shot looks over the course and the bay, and it’s one of the most beautiful views in golf. The par 5 is a tough one, not the hardest you will ever play but it can be one of the most rewarding. A well struck tee shot will take the fairway bunker out of play and without the wind a low punched 3 wood on your second can see you at the front of the green. If you walk away with a par here you should be pleased, walk away with a birdie and the memory of the view and you’ll be ecstatic The sea breeze at Alcanda is keeps you cool in the Mallorcan heat but if you do require on course 56 | YOURCADDY MAG - ISSUE 04 refreshments or food these can all be ordered from your buggy. In no time at all the friendly and tentative club staff will be out to you with your delivery. The back nine has some wonderful holes, the 13th a long par 4 into the wind has well placed bunkers ready to catch anything that isn’t straight and the 14th takes you right up to the water’s edge.
