YOUR COURSE | YOUR TRAVEL
It’s easy to see why the course receives so many plaudits when you stand on the 1st tee. The par
5 winds its way down to a ravine which sits around 100 yards short of the green. Standing on the
fairway after your first tee shot, its already decision time, the long hitters can make the green in
two but most will lay up and take in the views of the mountainous back drop before they attack the
green which is tucked away against the pines trees on your left.
The first hole sets the tone for the rest of the round, a
challenging course which needs to be thought about,
staying on the fairway is key around Alcanada, venture in
to the spongey sticky rough and you’ll have a tough time
sticking to your handicap.
The 7th hole is an exceptional one, an elevated tee shot
looks over the course and the bay, and it’s one of the most
beautiful views in golf. The par 5 is a tough one, not the
hardest you will ever play but it can be one of the most
rewarding. A well struck tee shot will take the fairway
bunker out of play and without the wind a low punched
3 wood on your second can see you at the front of the
green. If you walk away with a par here you should be
pleased, walk away with a birdie and the memory of the
view and you’ll be ecstatic

The back nine has some wonderful holes, the 13th a long
par 4 into the wind has well placed bunkers ready to catch
anything that isn’t straight and the 14th takes you right up
to the water’s edge. The par 3 is all about club selection
and reading the wind. Get this right a
