PGA
CHAMPIONSHIP 2015
ome the greatest names in golf have won the PGA
Championship, stretching back to its earliest days
the championship was actually a match-play event. Early
winners include Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead
and Walter Hagen, who holds the record for the most
wins, with five. A revision of the tournament in 1958 saw
the championship format move to a stroke play event and
big names in the world of golf, such as Gary Player, Jack
Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Raymond Floyd and Tiger Woods
have all won the tournament during this time. Nicklaus
currently holds the record for the most wins in the strokeplay era, with five.
The PGA Championship is the final of the four Majors in
each golfing year and in 2015 the 97th instalment will
be held on the Straits Course, at Whistling Straits Golf
Club, Kohler, Wisconsin. It will be contested between the
dates of August 13th and 16th and it will be the third time
that the PGA Championship has been staged at Whistling
Straits, the others being 2004 and 2010.
