SO YOU THINK YOU’RE PRETTY HANDY DO YOU? WELL WHY DON’T YOU PUT YOURSELF TO THE TEST? Have you had those words spoken to you on the course or wished you could say it to someone else? Well now with the new Pin Seekerz smart phone app you can challenge or be challenged. The Pin Seekerz app differs from the other products we’ve looked at in this issue, yes it does provide you with all the data you need to start tracking and improving your game but its foremost theme is competition. Pin Seekerz pitches you against the rest of the world. The system allows you to score your weekly games with friends or even your competitive club rounds to ascertain where you stand in the Pin Seekerz World Rankings. Using the Stableford point scoring system the app collates all your data (including FIR, GIR and putts) and charts your successes against worldwide golfing community. What’s nice about the system is that it’s simple. People have been calling out for a product like this for years – to play at an amateur level on a worldwide stage- but have failed because they have missed the simplicity of what is required. We are not saying it’s an easily reproduced system, in fact it’s the complexity of the software that makes it such a simple and rewarding product to use. After selecting your course, players can easily glide through holes with quick and simple gross score entry, FIR & GIR hit, and the number of putts per hole, users can easily navigate between holes with the quick hole select menu. Everything on the scorecard has been designed with the player and ease of use in mind, making score entry one less thing to distract you on the course. Strokes lead to points and with points being the Pin Seekerz currency it’s time to see how much your round was worth in world ranking points the system even gives bonus points (as it should do!) for birdies, eagles etc. Each week the system gathers, sorts and updates every player’s data and details the top 100 players from a number of filter options such as friends, club, country and of course a global positon. In order to keep retain a real feel of competition and make every game and week as important as the last the weekly World No.1 spot is up for grabs, you can see exactly what you opponents are scoring to see what you need to improve on to see who you need to beat to climb the leader board. To maintain a level playing field across the globe the app uses a “signature” system that requires Pin Seekerz users to build a community of players to play against in order to have their cards signed by an accredited opponent. This breathes confidence in the product showing that the developers have thought long and hard about creating a competitive yet fair environment. Your handicap is also under scrutiny, but in a good way, after the first three rounds the software calculates your handicap based on your performance and will adjust it accordingly, from there on in your Pin Seekerz handicap will adjust (if necessary) with every round played. A GPS & time stamp system allows the app to make sure that players signing each other’s score card were present on the course at the same time in order for the round to count towards the worlds ranking table. The Pin Seekerz app works on a number of different levels to cater for a wide audience of players. It allows you to play against friends and yet maintain a competitive feel knowing that your scores can not only beat your immediate playing partners but also help you beat players around the world. There are many other features set to come in future updates of the app but what’s already in place works, so if you want to compete on a global scale from the comfort of a frie
