LETTER FROM THE EDITOR It’s been a hectic few weeks since our last issue and we have had some major changes to the golfing landscape during the “start” of the golfing year. On route to his world number 2 spot Jordan Spieth slipped on his first green jacket in record breaking style by becoming the first player to ever reach -20 during four rounds of the major. This understandably had everyone talking; finally the new American golfing hope had come of age and now the US had a clear challenger to Rory’s claim as the sports current greatest player. In typical McIlroy fashion it didn’t take him long to quash any mutterings of him being replaced as world #1 , hitting form at the perfect time Rory claimed the WGC Cadillac Match play title and extended his lead at the top of the charts. Then we had “overatedgate”. In an “apparent” ESPN poll of their golfing piers Ian Poulter and Rickie Fowler were voted the most overated players on the US Tour. Poulter in his typical fiery fashion took to social media along with Fowler to poke fun at the haters but Fowler then went one step further to disprove his claim to the title by shooting -6 under in the final 6 holes of the players championship to claim victory in a 3 way play off. Other younger players have also started to make waves on the Tours, we catch up with Danny Willett in this issue to hear how he has gone about his business so far in 2015, the Yorkshireman claimed a top 40 finish at his first Masters, that coupled with his 3rd place playoff win over Jim Furyk has seen him gain his temporary card on the US Tour. So it seems that changes are a foot, the new crop of players are beginning to flourish and their popularity is reflected and the latest figures. TV numbers are up, manufacturers are seeing an uplift in equipment sales and clubs are seeing higher numbers of younger and social golfers take up there weekend tee times. So as we move in to the bread and butter part of the season all is looking rosey for our beloved game of golf and we have even more to look forward too. We look at the recent history of the US Open as well as our top picks for the title, and for those of you who are looking to take the first steps to winning a major our EuroPro feature will give you a good idea of how to get there. On the theme of bringing golf to new audiences we sat down with the team of Golf Juice TV, the latest golfing TV show to be hitting our screens, and it’s a little different!
