IS THERE A ROAD MAP FOR THE 2015 SEASON
I.E. WHERE YOU THINK YOU SHOULD FINISH
DEPENDING ON THE COURSES YOU PLAY AND A
WORLD RANKING TARGET FOR THE YEAR?
HOW MUCH OF A POSITIVE IMPACT DOES PLAYING
AND WINNING IN MATCH PLAY EVENTS HAVE ON
THE REST OF YOUR GAME, DO YOU TAKE THAT
MINDSET IN TO STROKE PLAY EVENTS?
“The win at the Nedbank gave me a great start obviously.
I’ve got a run in Europe and then a couple more majors
in America and then come back and really push in the
Race to Dubai. I’m second behind Rory at the moment
and we’ve got to try to chase him down and just try to
play some good golf.”
“Even guys that have won time after time, year after year
will tell you that victories still give them confidence and
belief and I’m no different. I think any kind of success
leaves you wanting more. I love the challenge of Match
Play and there are little things that carry over into Stroke
Play. One of the things that I think has changed for me
is that maybe in the past I was influenced by what other
players were doing. Now I like to think that I can be the
one to dictate with what I’m doing.”
NOW THAT YOU HAVE YOUR TEMPORARY CARD
FOR THE US TOUR DOES THAT HAVE A BIG EFFECT
ON YOUR EUROPEAN SCHEDULE, WILL YOU
PRIORITISE US EVENTS OVER PLAYING IN EUROPE?
“It’s just a case of being able to plan a bit more. This is
what it’s all about and it’s a schedule I’ve wanted to have
ever since I got on tour. We’re travelling here, there and
everywhere on the European Tour, basically playing all
around the world, just chasing the sunshine.
“In America there are some fantastic golf tournaments
going on and if you’re not in the top 50 you’re missing
out on them, the World Golf Championships and the
majors and you feel like you’ve fallen behind in terms of
experience and world ranking points.
“It’s going to be a good year. You can plan it properly and
I’m kind of playing both schedules, nine or 10 that count
on both tours so you’re almost playing a dual schedule
without travelling too much and stressing too much.”
YOU HAVE FAIRED EXTREMELY WELL WHEN YOU
HAVE FEATURED IN MATCH PLAY EVENTS, IS A
RYDER CUP PICK A TARGET FOR YOU AND WHAT
“STRENGTHS” WOULD YOU BRING TO A TEAM?
“It’s obviously a huge target for me and hopefully a byproduct of what I do over the months ahead. I’ve grown
up watching it and each time it just seems to get bigger
and bigger. It would be mega to be involved in th
