PUTTING
DRILLS...
NEW GREENS
For those of you that struggle when arriving at a new
course then the first drill I am going to give will help
you to learn the speed of the new green in the fastest
time possible.
Grab yourself four balls and head for the centre of the
putting green. From here hit a ball to each point of the
compass, with the point being the border of the green.
Using this drill will give you all the information about
the green you need to know before heading out to the
golf course.
The drill can be adapted to be used at your home course
as well, do exactly the same thing, but this time with
your eyes closed. Doing it with your eyes closed will
heighten the feedback that you get through your hands,
in turn improving your touch on the green.
PRACTICE,
MAKES PERFECT
Take a ball a place it 12 inches from the hole on each
point of a compass, take another ball and place it 24
inches from the hole on each point of the compass and
repeat again at 36 inches.
Begin with the balls closest to the hole, make your stroke
and if you make the putt continue with the next ball.
Once you have completed the first circuit of balls move
out to the next and so on. But beware if you miss, you
must restart the exercise from the start.
This drill is fantastic for those of you that struggle with
the business end of the game, holing out. You will be
amazed how quickly you can build your confidence
and see your scores plummet using this simple drill on
a regular basis
