UNITED SPINAL ASSOCIATION
Back in 1946, a group of disabled veterans decided to
band together to fight for better conditions for those
suffering from the disabling effects of spinal injuries.
Thus, the United Spinal Association was born. United
Spinal Association may have been founded in New
York, but its many chapters across the country assist
thousands with crucial services in an effort to improve
quality of life, access valuable resources, and remain
as independent of their disability as possible. To learn

multiple humanitarian aid efforts since 1945. Believe
it or not, CARE was the organization that coined the
term “Care Package,” after sending tens of thousands
