Rafieya Husain is a household name in
Guyana and around the world. Rafieya was
born in Anna Regina, on the Essequibo Coast
to parents Salena Khan and Jameel Husain.
Growing up in Georgetown she has very fond
memories of going to school, spending time
at both grandparents’ homes in Essequibo
Coast and Berbice. At age 11 Rafieya migrated
with her family to the USA, Rafieya began
her pageant career in 2010 and won her first
title as the Miss India DC 2010, followed by
several titles over that last six years including
Miss Teen Virginia 2010, Miss World Guyana
2014 and Miss World Caribbean 2014, and
now the reigning Miss Universe Guyana
2017. Ms. Husain is in her senior year at
Stayer University for her bachelor’s degree in
Accounting and Finance.
