program for grandparent-headed families.

played an important role in
family life but most, having
raised their own children, do not expect
to become parents again. However, in
2012, almost 41,000 children and
young people across Australia were the
subject of care and protection orders
issued by child protection authorities
with approximately half of those placed
in the care of relatives, mostly
grandparents.
