BACK TO BASICS YOGIC HERALD A JOURNAL ON YOGIC LIFESTYLE, MYSTICAL TRAVEL & WELLNESS Inhale, exhale, master your breath, and thou body will shine with the radiance of a star. Who said that? Some wise man perhaps. W hoever made this world has been very kind to all of us. Our body, our solar system, our planet – everything within us and around us is a miracle. We need to take some time out and observe it. At least just once in our life. Give it a day. Give it a week. Trust me; your life will change if you witness the miracle. In ancient times, people would chant the name of God, the mantras that opened portals to the inner space, served the temple, and considered whatever they ate as a miracle. Every breath that they took was synchronized with a mantra. The rituals of Yoga, Ayurveda & Reiki were not a small part of their daily routine. Instead, it was the whole and sole. Their very life was Yogic. Every breath, every meal, every prayer, every conversation, every hobby was Yogic. India Editor's note couple of hours. In spite of the ergonomic chairs, people need to apply some of the techniques of Yoga and Meditation that are extremely effective and unparalleled in some ways. In fact, meditation in my opinion has the most amazing effect physically as well as mentally. It is the best stress buster, concentration booster and motivator. Meditation can be done even at work (on a mat or even on a chair) and a session can last from anywhere between 5 30 minutes. For a beginner, it takes more time to find your focus point and slip into the inner world whereas for an advanced meditator, the takeoff does not take much time. In fact, I personally know many meditators who can wrap up a blissful experience session in just 10 15 minutes. thousands of years back was swarming with sages and seers thus. Even the common man had a Yogic life. Today, it is different. Mobile phones, cameras, screens, social media, cars and shopping malls have taken over. We don’t walk, we take the elevator. I read recently in an interview by Ironman Milind Soman to our magazine recently that he takes the stairs instead of lifts and elevators. He prefers to have an active life. We need to walk, climb, trek mountains, swim, play outdoor sports, meditate, attend festivals, maintain a healthy & strict diet, and play with our children – do all those things that can keep us physically and mentally rejuvenated. During my workshops with corporate, I found out that most of our working class do not have any idea about the amazing ability of 5 minutes of Yoga & meditation every Dear friends, your luck is in your hands. I am not telling it to you as a preacher or a philosopher. I am telling it to you as a soul. From one soul to another. In the business world, they call it networking. In the social world, they call it sharing. And that reminds me of my friend’s whatsapp profile which says, “Sharing is Caring”. But as a soul, I’d prefer to add – “Sharing is loving”. In the world of bliss, you share out of love. Love is purely an expression while living the experience of bliss. And we all can do that. Every single human being on this planet can do that. Let’s allow the consciousness to take over. In Gratitude Ishan Y O G I C H E R A L D 09
