spirit PRANA PRANOSPHERE SPACE, PRANA, TIME, KARMA AND MIND The Space element is the most important one according to Ayurveda, it is the element that provides means for everything to happen (also at a mental level). It’s paradoxical, it exists and it doesn’t at the same time. It’s the element where many objects can develop and it helps differentiate the objects. Space is freedom, peace, expansion, inactivity, clarity, vision, serenity (the closest to happiness). It has no physical existence, but now we know it is linked to time. In the cosmos, Space (akash) or the consciousness is where our karma is located, the time from this and each of our lives. We also need space in our room, inside the car, in the closet, in the stomach, in the mind, at home, in between your spouse. Space also generates prana, to which time is added, that generates mind and karma, then all of that conforms the pranosphere and any aspect of them that changes, will affect the rest of them. Ayurveda and Yoga’s life philosophy are based on prana; all of their paths are to get prana. To handle the mind or to handle the prana is to manage space, time and karma. Shakti is the primordial energy and has 2 polarities, it’s called prana if it is manifested, and kundalini if it is potential. Prana means pra-anna, the first food, and our first food when we begin our existence is oxygen, but prana is not just oxygen (planets can move and anaerobic germs can have prana shakti and respire in the absence of oxygen). Prana is not only energy, it is action, joy, pleasure, sex, enthusiasm, optimism, will power, attention and intention (sankalpa), good vibes, acceptance, fewer complaints, good attitude. When the mind is calm, the breath is calm as well; when the mind is disturbed, it disturbs the breath. When prana is controlled, all actions in which prana is involved are immediately controlled. By improving our breath, prana increases and the mind awakens (relevant in geriatrics and vata imbalances). Prana is influenced by our karma, dosha, our emotions, our work, the weather; summing up, by our lifestyle. Dr. Fabián J. Ciarlotti 42 YOGIC HERALD JAN 2018 “When the mind is calm, the breath is calm as well; when the mind is disturbed, it disturbs the breath. When prana is controlled, all actions in which prana is involved are immediately controlled.” I am ... what follows that is the ego. So ham: I am that, purusha. I am (mental state) ... what follows is prana. Prana, wind, air, mind, time, energy, death, karma ... are different octaves of the same music. Space generates and preserves prana, and prana is the will power’s fuel. Just as the body is a srota or channel of the mind, it is of time, prana and space as well.
