APPENDIX V : PARENT STUDENT AGREEMENT
( A signed copy of this document was submitted with your child ’ s application to study abroad .)
FOR ALL YFU USA STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS . PLEASE REVIEW THIS DOCUMENT CAREFULLY AND KEEP A COPY OF YOUR ENTIRE APPLICATION FOR YOUR RECORDS .
A . PURPOSE
This Program is conducted by Youth For Understanding USA and its affiliates , agents , or representatives ( hereinafter referred to as YFU USA ) to prepare young people for their responsibilities and opportunities in a changing , interdependent world .
B . PARENT AGREEMENT
PARENTAL AUTHORIZATION
1 . I have given my child permission to participate in the Program . My child and I will abide by the policies and procedures set forth by this document .
2 . I understand that should the applicant be selected as a finalist for the program , confirmation of the applicant ’ s participation will be contingent upon fulfillment of the medical , placement , and academic requirements of YFU USA .
3 . I consent that YFU USA may use limited information including picture ( s ) from my son / daughter ’ s application for convenience of information to YFU USA volunteers , staff , and prospective host families . In addition , YFU USA and its authorized agents have the irrevocable right to use my name with any submitted ( now or in the future ) photographs , videos , written statements , and similar materials involving me for informational , publicity , or promotional purposes without prior notification . I understand that these materials may appear in printed material published by YFU USA . I agree to hold YFU USA harmless from all claims related to YFU USA ’ s or its agents ’ use of these materials for these purposes . I also agree that YFU USA is under no obligation to me or any other party to use this material .
4 . I understand that all YFU USA Programs are subject to change or cancellation . In the event that my child ’ s Program is cancelled , I will have the opportunity to choose another YFU USA Program or obtain a tuition refund ( less the non-refundable application fee ).
HOST FAMILY AND SCHOOL PLACEMENT
1 . I understand that YFU USA will try to accommodate our preferences regarding host family placement . However , I understand that this cannot be guaranteed . I understand that YFU USA families may be of any race , religion , etc . and can live anywhere in my host country . I understand that the structure of YFU host families may be as diverse as the local culture allows and provides , including but not limited to a married couple with or without children in the home , a single parent with or without children in the home , a same-sex couple , a couple that has lived together in a committed relationship for an extended period , or a family in which both parents are under 30 years of age . I will be open to and accept the host family that YFU USA selects .
2 . I authorize YFU USA and its employees and representatives to determine , and when needed , to change , the place of residence or school designated for my child by YFU USA where YFU USA believes such change to be in the best interest of my child . I understand that YFU USA will notify me of any changes of host family or school .
3 . I recognize that schools abroad may impose academic standards or other requirements in determining grade level placement that differ from those in the school my child now attends . I accept that participation in the Program does not guarantee credit or graduation from the school my child now attends or from the school he or she will attend abroad while participating in the Program . I understand that it is my responsibility to arrange with the school my child now attends for such credit or graduation upon completion of the Program .
TUITION
1 . Unless my child is a full scholarship winner , I agree to pay the program tuition listed on the YFU USA website on or before the due dates . I recognize that increases in travel-related costs and / or currency fluctuations are beyond the control of YFU USA ,
