The concept of fika, or having coffee and eating something
sweet, is so integrated in Swedish culture that many
workplaces have scheduled—and paid!—fika breaks during
the day there. Moreover, Swedish workers are the least
stressed in the world and studies suggest that fika might be
the reason for this. Taking short breaks during the workday
not only boosts your energy—it makes you more efficient
as well! By turning down the sweets and choosing healthier
alternatives for your fika or snack break, you can maximize
the energizing effect of it. Here are a few tips on how to
get the most out of your fika break, courtesy of licensed
nutritionist and dietitian Amy von Sydow Green.
