Letter From Our President
Dear Members of SACC-Philadelphia,
It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as President of SACC-Philadelphia. We hope you enjoy read-
ing our latest edition of our Year-In-Review.
During 2017, we organized several successful business networking events. The Chamber held its sec-
ond Technology Event, featuring a panel discussion on the topic of cyber security. Speakers included
Stephen Ward (VP of Pinkerton), Per Nordling (Chairman of Briteback), Liz Rivera (Product Marketing
Manager of Specops Software), Ron Plesco (principal with KPMG) and Linda Priebe (partner with Cul-
hane Meadows). Each of the panelists provided valuable insights on steps a business should take to
protect itself against cyber threats. Other successful events included Skål, which featured an exhibition
on the traditions and history relating to spirits in Scandinavia, as well as our Crayfish Party co-hosted with
the American Swedish Historical Museum. We also held several Young Professional International Happy
Hours, and our annual Glögg Holiday Business Mixer.
SACC-Philadelphia is proud to have selected Essity to receive its annual business entrepreneurial award
in 2017. The award seeks to recognize companies that have made a significant contribution to the ex-
change of trade and commerce between Scandinavia and the Philadelphia Region, as well as impor-
tant contributions towards corporate social responsibility and sustainable business practices. Essity, which
has its North American headquarters in Philadelphia, was unanimously selected for this honor based on
its strong commitment to sustainability. The award was presented at our annual Glögg Holiday Business
Mixer held at the Racquet Club in Philadelphia. Mike Feenan, Vice President, Health and Medical Solu-
tions, North America, accepted the award on behalf of Essity.
SACC-Philadelphia is thankful for having hard working and contributing interns from Sweden with our
Chamber in 2017. These interns included Teele Rossi, Beatrice von Schilcher, Gabriella Johnson and Elisa-
beth Avrotin. Our internship program has continued to be a valuable experience for our interns and the
Chamber. We look forward to welcoming our new interns, David Johansson and Amanda Nelzén, in the
beginning of 2018.
Finally, I would like to thank our members for your continued support.
Very truly yours,
David W. Engstrom
President, SACC-Philadelphia
