Crayfish Party
In August, also known as the start of the Swedish crayfish season, the Chamber and the American Swedish
Historical Museum together hosted the annual crayfish party. The event was enjoyed on the beautiful premises
of the museum facing the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park. It was a fantastic evening, despite the humidity
and some rain showers, in the beautiful tent decorated with lanterns and festive crayfish decorations.
A lovely Swedish buffet with meatballs, Västerbotten cheese pie, potatoes and crayfish was served together
with snaps. As tradition follows, the guests wore hats and napkins with crayfish motives while enjoying the
Swedish delicacies and singing Swedish drinking songs. A delightful strawberry cake was served as dessert to
round off the late warm summer evening.
