Letter From Our President
Dear Members of SACC-Philadelphia,
It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as President of SACC-Philadelphia. We hope you
enjoy reading our latest edition of our Year-In-Review (“YIR”), which highlights several successful
events and activities from 2015.
These events include Sweden Day – an event on Corporate Social Responsibility featuring
Per Heggenes, CEO of IKEA Foundation and Alan Greenberger, Deputy Mayor of Economic
Development for Philadelphia as well as panelists from our member companies, including
Lars Björk, CEO of Qlik, Amy Bellcourt, VP Communications for SCA Americas and Gunilla
Girardo, President of Mentor Foundation. Other events include our Crayfish Party, our annual
Scandinavian Hockey Night, our Young Professional International Happy Hour, as well as our
annual Glögg Holiday Mixer. You will also be introduced to our most recent Blue & Yellow
member Duryea Technologies, and you can read about the story of FIKA NY in an interview
with the Swedish founder and owner Lars Åkerlund, and discover what their plans are for the
future.
This past year our Chamber also selected Wyebrook Farm, PA to receive our 2015 Business
Entrepreneurial Award. This annual award was created in 2010 by SACC-Philadelphia. The
award seeks to recognize companies that have made a significant contribution to the
exchange of trade and commerce between Sweden and the Philadelphia region, as well
as important contributions toward corporate social responsibility and sustainable business
practices. Wyebrook Farm was recognized for its strong commitment to sustainable business
practices and emphasis on sustainable agriculture.
SACC-Philadelphia is thankful for having hard working and contributing interns from Sweden
with our Chamber in 2015. These interns included Johanna Sabel, Sofie Karlquist, Charlotte
Isberg, Isabella Gillström & Sofie Ågren. Our internship program has continued to be a valuable
experience for our interns and the Chamber. We look forward to welcoming our new interns in
the beginning of 2016.
Finally, I would like to thank our members for your continued support.
David W. Engstrom
President, SACC-Philadelphia
