INTERNS INTERNS L E AV I N G Nima is born in Iran but relocated to Stockholm with his family before turning the age of two. Being influenced by different cultures from an early age, Nima developed a strong interest in languages. By the end of his highschool years, Nima was studying intermediate spanish courses with spanish speaking natives. While the knowledge in Spanish have faded throughout the years, Nima still has a strong interest in languages and continues to speak, read and write in his mother language of Farsi. Nima completed his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Economics in 2012 at Stockholm University and is currently pursuing a Master in Business and Management at Uppsala University, graduating in the summer of 2015. Nima has gained invaluable experience during his stay at SACC-Philadelphia. While the internship has at times been very challenging, it has been one of the best choices he has ever made. The city of Philadelphia is beautiful, vibrant, filled with culture, history and good food. It is a city that one easily falls in love with. ARRIVING Nima Ghamari Charlotte Isberg Ylva is currently enrolled in the Masters Programme in Business and Management at Uppsala University and will graduate in the summer of 2015. Her plan is to work as a business controller and it is her hope that she can come back to Philadelphia to live for a while after she graduates. Page 22 Charlotte is born and raised in Stockholm, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics. Ever since she first found out about the Chamber’s internship program at her school two years ago, Charlotte has eagerly been waiting for her 21st birthday so she would be eligible to apply. The wait has given her the opportunity to do research about the Chamber and its member companies, which makes her well prepared for the tasks ahead. With an ever-growing interest for international trade and partnerships, Charlotte hopes that the internship will give her a better understanding and knowledge of how international business works in reality. Furthermore, she sees her position as one of the two marketing managers as a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in a subject she is going to write her thesis in upon completion of the internship. Isabella Gillström ARRIVING L E AV I N G Ylva Lindén Ylva is born and raised in Uppsala, the fourth largest city in Sweden. She completed her Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Economics in 2012 and has since worked as a financial accountant for an Uppsala based IT company and as a researcher for TNS Sifo in Stockholm. Traveling is one of Ylva’s greatest passions and she has lived in France, Norway, South Korea and now the U.S. These six months with the chamber have been extremely fun, challenging and educational. Being an art and culture lover, Ylva has enjoyed the rich variety of museums and entertainment that Philadelphia has to offer. Sofie is born in the small yet to many well-known town of Kolmården in Sweden. After surviving high school with a year abroad in Fuengirola, Spain, she moved to Uppsala in 2010 and enrolled in a cultural anthropology program at Uppsala University. It was her cultural studies that also led her to a year of exchange studies in at the small yet renowned Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, USA. There, she learnt all about the Swedishness of the Mid-West and how a presidential election is celebrated in the US. She returned to Sweden and enrolled in a media and communications program as well as started working with the international student led organization AIESEC and their local office in Uppsala. After finishing her second bachelor she felt the urge not only to start working and use her 4 years of university studies at hand, but also to return to the US. This time to the historic and city of Philadelphia where she hopes to bring laughter and a cultural touch to her work at the SACC-Philadelphia. ARRIVING SACC-Philadelphia Interns Sofie Åberg Isabella Gillström is born and raised in Stockholm, but moved to the US in 2010 to pursue her two degrees in Business Administration and General Science at Santa Monica College. She transfered to UPenn in the spring of 2013 and is now completing her Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Art History. With UPenn’s vibrant and dynamic environment, her passion for entreprenurship and investments in the art world has flourished. She is engaged with a student organization called the Undergraduate Economics Society, which helps other students whom are studying Economics to find their right path. Besides school, she has a passion for classical books, traveling and meeting new people. Philadelphia is a beautiful and growing city where our Swedish ancestors once built their first colony. This is why the city contains a lot of Swedish history and after having spent one and a half years there, she knew that she wanted to get more involved in Philadelphia’s business life! n Page 23
