LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Members of SACC-Philadelphia, It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as President of SACC-Philadelphia in 2011. Our chamber has organized several successful events and activities in 2011. Some of the highlights include the Vodka Tasting, Social Media Business Mixer, Brews and Bow Ties, Golf Outing, Crayfish Party and our annual Glögg and Christmas Party. We collaborated with other organizations on many events, such as the American Swedish Historical Museum, the Scandinavian American Business Forum, International House of Philadelphia, the Racquet Club of Philadelphia, Global Independence Center and other international chambers of commerce. In August 2011, SACC-Philadelphia worked on a trade mission with the Swedish software company, Specops Software. Our chamber assisted Specops with evaluating the benefits of the Philadelphia Region. We also helped set up meetings with potential business partners during Specops’s visit to Philadelphia. The trade mission was successful and Specops selected Philadelphia as the location to open its U.S. head office. Specops is now a member of our Chamber and one of our former interns from Sweden, Erik Fritzson, is working for them. Our chamber looks forward to working on future trade missions between the Philadelphia Region and Sweden. In December 2011, SACC - Philadelphia contined its tradtition of giving out an annual business entrepreneurial award at our Glögg Party. The award was presented to SCA Americas, Sune Lundin and Don Lewis. Mr. Lundin has been president of SCA Americas since 2008 and Mr. Lewis has been with SCA for 10 years, and will be taking over as president in January 2012. Our Chamber selected SCA and Messrs. Lundin and Lewis to receive this award to recognize their contributions toward innovation, corporate social responsibility and sustainable business practices. SACC - Philadelphia is thankful for having hard working and contributing interns – Therese Ucan, Patrik Fornander, Ulrika Lööf, Erik Fritzson, Malin Karlsson and Tomas Ahlmark – in 2011. SACC-Philadelphia’s internship program has continued to be a valuable experience for our interns and the Chamber and we look forward to welcoming our new interns in the spring of 2012. Finally, I would like to thank our members for your continued support. David W. Engstrom President SACC-Philadelphia Sincerely David W, Engstrom
