About SACC-Philadelphia
SACC-Philly Update
The SPU was revamped in 2008 thanks to the combined efforts
of SACC-Philadelphia’s interns. The semi-annual magazine was
printed in full-color for the first time instead of black and white.
A style guide was also created to maintain consistency and
increase the professional look of the magazine, including
developing a text and style standard to be used for all future
issues. In addition to covering SACC-Philadelphia’s various
events, the 2008 SPU also focused on the economy. We are
grateful to Mark Stewart of Buchanan Ingersoll and Jan
Häggström, the Chief Economist at Svenska Handelsbanken, for
their article contributions. Häggström wrote an in-depth article
on the Swedish-US trade in a global perspective and Stewart
wrote about “Market Turbulence and the U.S. Legal Landscape.”
For future issues, we have also reached out to our members for
suggestions on topics and themes and for the opportunity to write
updates about their business developments and/or activities.
Although only one issue was printed, we increased our
distribution numbers. Our two new interns have also provided
supplementary updates through electronic newsletters to stay
connected with our members. The next issue of the SPU will be
printed in April 2009. The theme will focus on positive business
developments in the face of economic hardships.
The SPU featured ads from IKEA, SAS, PRM International,
SCA, Buchanan Ingersoll, and others. Jørgen Flood also wrote an
article about Amtrak travel and we established a relationship
with the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation
(GPTMC) that has allowed us to use photographs from their
galleries in the issue. The front cover features a photo of 30th
Street Station courtesy of the GPTMC.
