Events 2008
The Philadelphia chapter of The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce organized several successful events during 2008.
Through these events, we have had the chance to grow and enter into a new era of SACC-Philadelphia, and we hope to continue on
the positive path we are currently on. All the events held in 2008 are briefly presented below. They are good examples of the kind of
work SACC-Philadelphia does, and what can be expected in the upcoming years.
Business Mixer – Bistro Romano March 18th
Lars Eriksson, Senior Vice President of Corporate Banking for
SWEDBANK, New York addressed the current economic
outlook and what impact this may have on the US- Scandinavia
relations. This very current topic drew a crowd of approximately
40 people including a number of younger participants. Several
people from the Eurocircle group were in attendance. After the
presentation, there were many intense discussions around the
room!
Global Economic Outlook – Union League
April 22nd
As usual, this annual event had a good turnout and it took place
in the beautiful Union League facilities. The seminar was a joint
event with the following chambers: America-Israel Chamber of
Commerce, British-American Business Council, CanadianAmerican Chamber of Commerce, German-American Chamber
of Commerce and the Mid-Atlantic-Russia Business Council.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Julien Seetharamdoo, a Senior
Economist with the Royal Bank of Scotland, and the focus of his
presentation was the US economy.
Julien holds a first-class degree in Economics from Cambridge
University and a Ph.D. from the Management School at
Lancaster University.
Breakfast Seminar – Armen Saab – Ardmore
May 23rd
Armen Cars in Ardmore hosted a breakfast seminar for members
of SAAC-Philadelphia. During the presentation, emphasis was on
the continued Swedish heritage in the design of the Saab cars.
The approximately 15 attendees were given the opportunity to sit
in the various models.
Euro 2008 – TirNaNog – June 2008 14th
Members of SAAC-Philadelphia gathered at TirNaNog, an Irish
pub, in the Center City, to watch Sweden take on the other
European teams in the Euro 2008 Cup. TirNaNog is known for
showing many European soccer games.
