Have You Forgotten About Your Goals? By Carol Gerber We’ve hit the half way mark for this year. Can you believe it? July is often a time where people take stock of where they are and realise Goal Setting seems to have been forgotten. No need to beat yourself with a stick! It’s never too late to start. Here is a short exercise to help you get on track. 1. Choose 1 area of your life where you’d like to make a change. Something serious like your career or health. 2. Set at least 1 goal for this area. Not sure how? Follow the SMARTER Goal Formula: S - Specific: so that you know exactly what you are trying to achieve M - Measurable: so that you will know when you have achieved it A - Action orientated: it needs to be something you can actually do R - Realistic: so that it is achievable T - Time line: there has to be a deadline E - Exciting: if you action plan doesn’t excite you will not achieve your goal R - Rework: If something isn’t working literally rework the goal or action plan Setting goals is not only for the serious stuff in our lives. As busy as we are, we often forget to add fun into our lives. Now is a great opportunity to think about what you would like to do for yourself, for example: Read x number of books, taking cooking lessons. Make it something that will feed your soul! I would like to ....(what)....because ....(why).... I will achieve this by .. (how)......
