impossible feat. It does not require hours of introspection or wavering or discussion. We
don’t have to suffer – it can be effortless! Certainty can come in an instant. It is a deep
‘knowing’ that is within each and every one of us, and it cannot be easily translated into
words. We just know. And from that knowing, we have an impulse to take the next step.
Decision-making can be that simple!
So, how can we get there? When we hit an impasse, when we are struggling with a
dilemma, when we feel there is something more that we cannot grasp…. then it might be
time to take a step back from ourselves and be gently guided, towards our essence.
Beneath the layers of thoughts, underneath the deposits of feelings, emotions and fears,
under all that we believe, is the ultimate reason for everything, the ‘what it’s all about’, the
truth at any given moment. This is the place beyond doubt, the place where something
more solid than our heads and our hearts, just ‘knows’.
We can ask ourselves the question: What is this all about, really? And we wait. We can
ask another question: What is it that I long for right now? And what would that give
me? And we wait. And we ask again. Our truthful answer, at that moment, will let itself be
known, more often than not, through a change of energy in our body, a physical sensation,
a surge of emotion, a statement that forms itself clearly in our minds, without us actively
participating. We sit with this until we feel an expansion, a relaxation in our energy, a
release. Then we know we have arrived.
In this way we will know we have touched the truth of our dilemma, at that moment: it can
be a deep need that was not being met and now is seen; the real reason we were
struggling with something. We will know, if we listen. Truth is energy, a message that is
immediate and does not need explaining, as it shows itself through the body – if we open
ourselves to listening like this. When we allow this energy to unfold within and around us,
we know with absolute clarity what needs to be done or who we need to be, at that very
moment.
The key is to stop everything and take distance from the confusion, from trying to listen to
what your mind and your heart are maybe trying to tell you, from making any effort.
Release the desire to figure it all out and embrace uncertainty at that very moment. And
ask, and wait. Sense in stillness, with detached curiosity. And wait some more. It is a
practice of deep listening within. It is your soul that will make itself heard. And the soul
needs space, and it needs time.
Conscious living is about learning a simpler, more meaningful way of relating to ourselves,
whereby we listen to our core. This is the place of resolution. Yes, it is profound. And yet it
is within reach for all of us.
