MUSIC CHOSE ME! V By Erika Lee ASSY is a powerhouse female vocalist that is showing the world what she is made of! VASSY and her talent gave her a ride right to the #1 spot on Billboard with her hit “Doomsday,” and if you haven’t checked it out yet, it is time too! She has worked with musical creatives such as David Guetta, Afrojack, Tiesto and more. VASSY is just getting started, and we can’t wait to hear more of her music! How does a small-town girl from Australia’s Northern territory rise up to become an international recording artist with multiplatinum success? Well, let VASSY break it down for us, and a big part of it is that her shine comes from her ATTI- TUDE. The powerhouse vocalist, songwriter, producer, and KMV founder fearlessly followed her dreams in the face of all obstacles and accomplished the seemingly impossible dream on her own terms. That spirit of defiance defined her approach from day one—and always will. “Dreams keep us alive,” she exclaims and “I never had a ‘Plan B,’ so I just stuck to ‘Plan A.’ I’m a believer that if you want something, you’ve got to visualize it, and it will happen. I want to encourage people to dream and believe.” She is a walking breathing example of that philosophy. Growing up in a family of Greek immigrants in Darwin, Australia, where her beginnings were humble, she always possessed great ambition and a deep passion for music. She coupled her spirit and song in a collaboration of giving back to a commu- nity in need. At the time her first song that she had written, was heading to #1 on National Radio Austrailia, she was spend- ing her day with those who had less hope. VASSY hosted hip-hop workshops in detention centers to offer empowerment to those in need. She was able to accomplish this by receiving grants, which put her in a position to share music and hope. During this time, she quickly attracted a fan base that respected her down-to-earth hustle. That translated to North Ameri- ca which led to her to relocate to the States, and she quietly entrenched herself into the world of electronic dance music and became one of the genre’s most ubiquitous & unique voices. 2014 welcomed her as she joined forces with David Guetta and Showtek on the global smash, “Bad.” This hit ascended to #1 in over twenty countries, achieved a gold plaque from the RIAA in America, received fourteen international platinum certifications, clocked over 1 billion streams, and garnered “Best Featured Vocalist Performance” at the International Dance Music Awards [IDMA]. She was just getting started, and she rode the momentum on to other wins. Next up, she accompanied Tiësto & Kshmr on the 2015 anthem “Secrets,” which holds the distinction of being “Spinnin’s second best-selling single of all time” in addition to six platinum and two gold certifications, a #1spot in over 24 countries, and an IDMA for “Best Electro Progressive/House Track.” Next up, Tiësto co-produced her #1 Billboard solo single “Nothing To Lose,” while she teamed up with Afrojack for “LOST”—which marked her fourth #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Charts in the US. Are you feeling her energy yet? If you’re not, then you’re asleep. Wake up! She didn’t stop. Kicking off 2018 with GRAMMY® Nominated Canadian duo Sultan + Shepard for “Somebody New” VASSY knows how to captivate her fans through her versatile ability to write anthemic hooks to more soulful intimate songs. Her voice and lyrics inspire hundreds of thousands of people around the world to sing along with her at festivals like ULTRA & Tomorrowland! Simultaneously, her music has been heard in global TV Campaigns for Target, Nickelodeon, Skechers, Vic- toria’s Secret, Nike, Pepsi in addition to Pretty Little Liars and Grey’s Anatomy. Among many syncs, “We Are Young” fea- tured in the trailer for Disney’s Oscar-winning Frozen as well as Tina Fey’s Admission. photography - fidel gonzalez with @lookartists makeup - fidel gonzalez with @photogenicsarmy hair - perla cabrera silvia nails- denise bourne fashion - madison dixson set manager - joshua mcintyre creative director - fidel gonzalez
