Irrigation System Check

Landscape watering accounts for approximately 50% of water used for residential purposes. Because water is a precious and limited resource, it is important to be vigilant in conservation year round. As the temperatures reduce, our need for this resource also reduces. This time of year is a good time to check a few things that will help keep your system running properly and your landscape looking its best, as well as maximize water savings.

The following guidelines are supplied by the City of Phoenix and the "Water Use It Wisely" campaign. Other factors may reduce the amount of water needed. For example, when higher than normal amounts of rain occur, the days between watering via the irrigation system would increase. A soil probe (thin metal rod or long screwdriver) is very useful in checking depth of soil moisture.

For established plants, follow this guide when determining the number of days between watering.
